Syntune took its first steps with STING
Patrik Evaldsson, CEO of Syntune, relates that the company was one of the very first companies that used STING′s support services. Today the company is one of STING′s alumni companies but it still keeps in touch with the organization.
Syntune′s product is an laser that gives operators and network owners significant advantages once in place in the broadband networks. The products will be found both in today?s city networks and the fiber networks drawn over large distances. The market is global.
− We see a development today where more and more network owners would rather use some sort of laser since it offers more flexible control of traffic but is also more cost effective than previous systems. The market for our product has grown tenfold in the last few years and today we?re in touch with customers in Europe, USA, and Asia, says Patrik Evaldsson.
Syntune has during spring 2008 partnered with Svedice, based in Järfälla in Stockholm, to produce a complete array of widely tunable products, including the world's first commercially available, widely tunable transmitter on a single chip.
The help Syntune got from STING for the startup concerned mainly a formalization of the company where it expanded from product development to including business development and market analysis. One of the courses the founders took focused on sales which turned out to be very useful.
− Many new companies have tunnel vision and only develop their own technology. STING broadened our focus from purely considering product development to also considering sales, says Patrik Evaldsson.
When it was time to find financing for the company the business coaches also acted as springboards for ideas and strategies, he adds.
The contact with STING still remains and the company has discussed contributing some of their own experiences into the various programs.
