STING gave Replisaurus a quality stamp
Patrik Möller, VP Technology and founder of Replisaurus Technologies, sees the time spent with STING as an important phase for his company. Here was the network and the contacts the founders themselves lacked and beyond that, STING gave an important quality stamp to the business.
Patrik Möller, founder of Replisaurus Technologies has spent much time with fine-tuning his company's technology. In 2006 Replisaurus received nearly 100 million kronor from financiers such as Nortzone Ventures and Wellington Partners. In spring 2008 the company acquired S.E.T. SAS to establish a production site for its integrated and fully automated high-volume manufacturing tools for the proprietary ElectroChemical Pattern Replication™ (ECPR™) technology. Since the start the years has been filled with mile posts for scaling up the technology behind their innovative copy machine for the semiconductors they develop.
− It′s been a very exciting year where we have developed the technology and the company. Today, when we have acquired S.E.T., we are 47 employees and are led by a highly experienced CEO we recruited in conjunction with financing. The most fun has been seeing that technology really works, even at a large scale, says Patrik Möller.
It was in 2001 that the idea for the unique production method was born among the three young founders about to graduate from Lund′s technical university. When they then sought an environment in which to develop their technology it was natural to look closer at Kista Science City, partially thanks to the Electrum laboratory′s reputation.
− When we then got in touch with STING through professor Mikael Östling and were in addition offered an industry doctorate job at KTH the choice was obvious. It was the perfect package and we were welcomed by the hands-on attitude in STING that fit us very well, says Patrik Möller.
- STING′s Business Lab gave us recent graduates an important quality stamp. Beyond that, it gave us access to a network of contacts that we personally lacked. STING also meant a lot when we had to find the first public money to finance the development, says Patrik Möller.
After Replisaurus had left STING′s Business Lab a lot had happened inside the company. The idea had won an impressive number of prizes, attracted an considerable amount of capital, and, as the rumor of their technology spread, assembled a counsel of technical experts, many international industry.
− By participating in STING′s Business Lab we got the right contacts to quickly develop the business and today we reach international media and attention with our technology. Our international contacts have made it possible to hire and assemble our advisory board of experts who help us navigate the right path, says Patrik Möller.
The market for Replisaurus Technologies′ products is global an the company hopes to present a finished product for its customers at the start of 2009. They′re still in close contact with the business coaches at STING and Patrik Möller names the entrepreneur event Innovation & Technology as very important.
− It was in conjuction with Innovation & Technology 2005 that we met the representatives from the organization that gave us our latest financing, says Patrik Möller.
