STING companies EpiQ and Wussap ready for global take off

2009-12-09 At Tuesday's Take-off ceremony at STING it was time for companies EpiQ and Wussap to leave the incubator and thus take the next step in their development. The companies operating in such diverse industries as life sciences and IT, but have one thing in common: they aim to have the whole world as its field.

STING's CEO Pär Hedberg began the ceremony by giving some advice to the two companies. One of the key success factors is to think global from the start.
- Our country here in the north is too small, you need to think internationally from day one, said Pär and noted that this is something both EpiQ and Wussap have succeeded in.

EpiQ, which develops solutions for the diagnosis of atrial fibrillation and coronary heart problems, came to STING for almost exactly two years ago. Even then, the goal was "to establish EpiQ as a company with global presence", as it is on track to do with a large international network of clinical partners and presence in six countries after just two years. One of the recipes for success for EpiQ is the good experience on the company. Together, the employees have almost 100 years of industry knowledge, something that they used to provide consultancy services and thereby ensured the revenues to invest in research and product development.

For EpiQ the goal remains the same as at the start, to become a company with global presence. The greatest challenge ahead is to get the first product and to maintain funding by continuing to sell consulting services, according to CEO Per Sundström.
- On the specific financial strategies STING has contributed valuable knowledge and good discussions. Furthermore, they have given us a large network with many important contacts, "says Per.

Even Wussaps three founders stepped in to STING for the first time two years ago. Then with the ambition to "conquer the Internet," according to the company's business coach Ulf Brandels. Wussaps business concept makes it possible to interact, communicate and surf the web together. With the Internet's global reach Wussap have the opportunity to reach out internationally. The company is launching its services in January next year.
- Humans are social and want to communicate, even when they surf, "says Wussaps co-founder Claudijo Borovic. Wussaps service shows who's on the same site and offers the opportunity to communicate with them via a chat. Moreover, the possibility of using a "surf-train" to follow someone else's surfing.

- We are grateful to STING, particularly for the help to focus and courage to take the step to go for it full time, "says Claudijo and also mentions guidance in financial matters, including the network and contacts as important contributions from the incubator.

STING's CEO Pär Hedberg closed the ceremony with an etymological interjection. - The word entrepreneur is French and means a person who gets things done, "said Pär. A word thus fits well into both companies.
