Pär Hedberg has been selected for "Best venture capitalist"
2010-12-03 Pär Hedberg, VD och grundare av affärsinkubatorn STING och riskkapitalfonden STING Capital har av tidningen Nya Affärer blivit utsedd till ”Årets riskkapitalist”. Det nyinstiftade priset skulle gå till ”en riskkapitalist som gjort något utöver det vanliga för att främja entreprenörer och entreprenörskap”.

The jury's motivation reads: "Pär Hedberg has like no one else managed to build a system to help new technology-driven company, with both capital and above all the knowledge and network carriers need. Stings VC company Sting Capital, is also one of the few companies who invest in really early stages. "
- We have tried to create an innovative ecosystem in order to best support entrepreneurs to build international growth: Business Development Support from experienced coaches, VC STING Capital, our Business networking and recruitment service STING Search for Talent, where we help our companies to build successful teams. Obviously, it is gratifying to receive confirmation that we have done something good, "says Pär Hedberg.
STING started the VC STING Capital in 2005 with "the Innovation Bridge" Innovationsbron, where both state and private industrial families and business angels in total has gone up by 85 million. Today, 60 of them invested in 25 companies. All the money has gone to companies that are at a very early stage.
- There is a clear gap between soft financing and venture capital. That's what we wanted to change. During 2011 we plan to start our second fund, aiming for to bring in 150-200 million.
STING business incubator started in 2002 and is owned by Electrum Foundation. Behind the Foundation, among others, the City of Stockholm, Ericsson and KTH. Very inspired by the construction of STING, Pär downloaded from the Israeli innovation system. Today, over 70 companies received STING incubator process.
- Each year we evaluate some 150 cases, which we take in about 8 percent of our incubator. Each company receives a personal business coach who provides extensive business development support. I have a genuine priority to hand-pick people with solid experience in building and managing international growth.
One of STING's former incubator companies, online video company, Video Plaza, was also rewarded yesterday with one of Veckans Affärer's contractor's price. Founders Sorosh Tavakoli, Alfred Ruth & Dante Buhay was named "Best New Business" by attending to "a contractor for 30 years that has built an outstanding company."
The jury said: "In a short time Sorosh, Alfred and Dante managed to build a company internationally spreading hope to the media companies that there is a way to make money on Web TV. By good product and hard work internationally they has quickly established as a leading player in online video with over 40 clients, many of them leading European broadcasters, in some 15 countries. "
About Nya Affärers Entrepreneurs price
Thursday, 2 December was New Affärer contractor's price for the first time. At a seminar at the Astoria in Stockholm praised successful entrepreneurs and politicians and venture capitalists who make a positive contribution to a better entrepreneurial climate. The award was presented by the New Business with SEB, UC and three who are partners in the project. Read more here (Swedish).
